DJI just signed for half of BVLOS compliance. The other half is still yours.

This week DJI published something quietly significant: a SAIL III declaration of compliance for the Dock 3 and Matrice 4D — the exact hardware most UK dock operators run.

In plain terms: under SORA (the risk framework both EASA and the UK CAA use for BVLOS approvals), SAIL III operations can accept manufacturer declarations for the design-related safety objectives. DJI has now made those declarations — design reliability, C2 link, flight envelope protection, manuals, environmental limits, and the design side of maintenance and continued airworthiness. For operators in EASA member states, a meaningful chunk of the BVLOS paperwork just got signed by the manufacturer.

Note the word design

Read what DJI's package doesn't cover, and you find the operator's half of the bargain, unchanged: your ConOps, your procedures, your training, your risk assessment — and crucially, proving the aircraft was actually maintained to DJI's instructions, in service, continuously, with records an authority can audit. DJI declaring “here are the maintenance requirements” doesn't soften the question “show me you followed them.” It sharpens it.

That's the half Dock Pulse exists for: an auditable maintenance log against manufacturer-derived intervals, battery lifecycle tracking, flight and fault records captured at event time, airspace context on every operation — and a single evidence pack that produces all of it on demand.

The UK caveat, stated plainly

DJI's declarations apply to EASA member states, and the CAA isn't covered today. But UK SORA follows the same methodology, and the direction of travel is clear — manufacturers will increasingly sign for the aircraft's design. Nobody will ever sign for your operation. Those records stay yours to keep, and yours to produce.

The operators who treat that as a daily habit rather than a pre-audit scramble are the ones who'll move fastest when approvals get cheaper. That's what we build.
